Jules began her legal career in Baltimore, Maryland as a clerk at Health and Education Resource Organization (HERO) addressing needs of Marylander’s living with HIV/AIDS. She subsequently worked at Civil Justice, Inc. as a clerk where she developed her consumer protection advocacy skills in the areas of predatory lending and consumer protection on the forefront of the housing crisis of 2006/7.In 2008, Jules moved to Uganda with the Peace Corps working with African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse, helping to draft and pass legislation related to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. In 2008 Jules and Ugandan colleagues founded Genda Mirembe, using girls’ football/soccer as a means to secondary school educational scholarships for orphaned girls in Rakai District.
Most recently, as Of Counsel to Ridgeway Law Office, based in Hartford, Connecticut, Jules worked with the Honorable Ret. Judge Paul Ridgeway. With RLO, Julie honed her estate planning and business and non-profit set-up and advising skills, coordinated services with financial and other planners, and deepened her commitment to practicing a community-based model of lawyering.
